I promised on the opening page that I wouldn’t waste your time or money with BS; so here’s the truth. Our beaches can’t compete with Jamaica, Bahamas or Mexico. Natural sand is made when wave action grinds up sea shells over time. Our reef system prevents the formation of waves; hence, we create beaches with imported sand. Also, the summer south winds bring sea grass by the ton – daily. It’s not pretty. There are workarounds of course, but if your shoot centers on models frolicking in the surf, eeehhh, you might want to rethink Key West as your go-to beach location.
That being said, I’m not giving up with a fight. Here is a quick shot of Nikki on a strip of sand on the north side of Wisteria Island, just a half mile from Key West.
